Dog Health Questions

  • Can I bring my dog to daycare if he or she is sick?
    Spot has a simple rule – If you dogs is sick please keep your dog at home. We are committed to ensuring a safe environment for all of the dogs entrusted to our care. Dogs that are currently sick are not welcome in daycare due to the high risk of infecting other dogs.
  • Can dogs that have special needs become members of the Spot family?
    Special needs dogs are evaluated on a case by case basis to make sure they would be a good fit for daycare and could be a part of the Spot community.
  • What happens if my dog becomes sick at Spot?
    Spot has an emergency triage procedure that will be activated. We will phone you and your vet. Should your vet not be available we’ll take your dog to a Spot approved vet to receive treatment.
  • Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered?
    All dogs must be spayed or neutered by the age of eight months to be accepted into daycare. Intact dogs of all ages are welcome to take advantage of Spot’s walking and grooming services.
  • What vaccines are required?

    NYC has very strict animal health laws that Spot adheres to. Spot requires proof of up-to-date vaccinations for every dog in our care, including grooming and walking clients. Required vaccinations include rabies, DHPP (distemper/parvo) and Bordatella. Dogs attending social daycare are urged to receive a Bordatella booster every six months for maximum protection.

General Questions

  • Do you separate large and small dogs?
    Large and small dogs are separated at every Spot location
  • Are there cancellation penalties?

    Yes. Spot reserves space specifically for your pup whether it be grooming, boarding, walking or another service. If you fail to cancel a scheduled service 24 hours before the scheduled service is set to begin, Spot will charge the credit card on file 50% of the service or reservation.

  • How do I cancel a service I scheduled?

    Simply call or email the location where your service is scheduled and request a cancellation. If you are cancelling a reserved service such as overnight boarding or grooming, those cancellations must occur 24 hours before the scheduled service is scheduled to begin.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?
    We accept cash and all major credit and debit cards Some of our locations accept cash. Please ask ahead of time if you can pay by cash. We do not accept checks.
  • What are your hours?

  • What services do you offer?

    Spot offers a wide array of services including – daycare, walking, boarding, grooming, training, country retreats, transportation and retail.

  • Where are you located?
    Spot has six locations in New York City to serve dog lovers. Please visit the locations page to find information about your local Spot store, and how we can best serve you and your dog.

Interview Questions

  • How long does the interview take?
    Although typically quicker, you should allot 45 minutes at the time of the interview to complete paperwork, confirm vaccinations, have your questions answered, and receive a tour. At that point, your dog will be introduced to our Spot dog group, and we ask that they stay for a minimum of four hours to settle in and make friends. You do not need to stay during this portion of the interview. If your dog passes, he or she is welcome to spend the entire interview day at Spot at no charge.
  • Why do I have to do an interview?

    Interviews help Spot maintain the integrity of the community by ensuring that all dogs exhibit the proper behavior and temperament for daycare. If a year has lapsed between attending Spot, or if you change Spot locations, we conduct a re-introduction interview as well.

  • What takes place during the interview?
    Spot’s trained professionals will evaluate your dog to determine if he or she is suitable for cage-less daycare. The staff will evaluate your dog’s temperament, social skills and make sure there are no behavior traits, like resource guarding, that would prevent your dog from being a good fit for the Spot community.

Membership Questions

  • What does it cost to have my dog become a member of the Spot family?

    Membership costs $350 and entitles you to priority boarding at all stores and up to 20% off of daycare, overnight and transportation ala carte services.  Additionally, many of our stores offer webcam access as an additional benefit of membership.

  • Do you offer multi-dog discounts?
    We do offer multi-dog discounts. Please contact the location closest to you to get specifics.
  • Do I have to purchase a membership to use Spot services?

    Membership is not a requirement, and we offer a la carte rates for all of our services. However, we're only able to offer our heavily discounted packages to members, among other perks.

  • What are the benefits of a Spot membership?
    Purchasing a Spot membership provides you access to discounted packages, members only events and promotions, priority access to boarding, and in many of our locations, webcam access.

Retail Questions

  • Can I buy food at Spot?
    Spot has a wide variety of food available for purchase, including brands such as Stella & Chewy’s, Orijen, Merrick, and Lotus.

Services Questions

  • Do you offer transportation?
    Spot offers transportation through a fleet of specially equipped vans within transportation zones that are specific to each location. Please contact the location that you use to get transportation zone specifics
  • Do you offer dog walking?
    Spot is a full service dog care company, and we are happy to offer walking in addition to daycare serivces, or as a separate service that starts and finishes at your apartment. All of our walkers are trained in SPOT handling and safety techniques.
  • Do you offer relief walks?
    Relief walks are offered at all locations. Please speak to the concierge at your local Spot to discuss your needs.
  • Do you charge to feed or medicate my dog?

    There is no charge for feeding or medicating your dog. However, we request that you bring enough of your pup's regular food to cover his or her stay with us. In the event you forget their food, we have food for sale in all of our locations. Regarding medication, we are happy to administer pills or topical applications, however we aren't able to provide injections at this time.

  • How do I access the webcams?
    Members may access the webcams by visiting the webcams section of our website.
  • What are your webcam policies?
    Password protected webcams are available to members during normal business hours.
  • Do you have webcams?
    Although not all, many of our locations offer webcam access. Please note that webcams are a benefit of membership and are available to SPOT Canine Club members only.
